Real blades
Directional melee against the things in the dark. Choose the angle of every swing, and block in the direction each blow comes from. Where your blade lands is where it hits.
Bleed the dark, come back heavy.
Black Tallow is an old-school co-op dungeon crawler with directional combat, made solo in Australia. Roll a character, hexcrawl across a grim fantasy world with your party, and descend.
Build your character like a tabletop sheet: stats, race, class, background and burdens. Play alone or with up to two friends, and decide what to do when you meet the other parties down there: PvPvE, played the old-school way. Level up, gear up and carve your way through the depths with sword or sorcery. Characters die for good.

Roll the stats, then choose race, class, background and burdens. A character sheet you made, for someone who might not come back.
Hexcrawl across a world written like an old module, then descend beneath a ruined castle, where other parties are delving too. Your stash travels in the cart, and it outlives your characters. Every delve starts with the same question: what do you take down?
Set to a dungeon synth soundtrack, Black Tallow harks back to old-school RPGs and tabletop roleplaying in a basement after dark: dice on the table, a candle burning low, and an ambient tape hissing in the corner.
I'm Tom, an Australian solo developer, and Black Tallow is the game I'm making. It's in development: follow along in the devlog, on the Discord, or by signing up for email updates.
